Built a native tvOS WireGuard client for connecting Apple TV back to home servers / NAS (VPNX Guard)

Hey everyone!
As someone running a self-hosted setup at home, I often needed my Apple TV to stay securely tunneled back to my home network (NAS, local DNS/Pi-hole, router) even when placed in different environments.
However, I couldn't find a lightweight, native tvOS client that focuses purely on WireGuard with reliable background keep-alive connections.
So I built VPNX Guard — a native tvOS app built specifically for Apple TV.
Key Features for Self-Hosters:

  • Standard Config Import: Easily import standard .conf WireGuard profiles.
  • Persistent Connection: Designed with aggressive keep-alive to ensure the tunnel stays connected in the background.
  • Native tvOS UI: Clean and simple navigation built natively for the Siri Remote.
  • 100% Direct/Private: No third-party servers involved — pure P2P connection to your own WireGuard endpoint.

You can find VPNX Guard on the tvOS App Store.
I'd love to get feedback, bug reports, or feature requests from the self-hosted community to make this even better! Feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM if you're interested in testing it out. Thanks!
