Following up on the last one since people had more questions in the comments than I expected. Here's round two.
"Do I need to worry about SPF DKIM and DMARC or is that overkill for a small operation?"
You need all three regardless of how small your operation is. This isnt a scale thing, its a basic requirement for any domain sending cold email. Without proper authentication your emails look suspicious to receiving servers even if everything else about your setup is fine. It takes maybe fifteen minutes per domain to configure and skipping it is one of the fastest ways to end up in spam with no idea why.
"Whats a realistic reply rate I should be aiming for?"
Depends heavily on your industry and how saturated your specific audience is with cold email already. Somewhere between 2 and 4 percent is a reasonable target for most B2B campaigns right now. If your seeing 6 or 8 percent consistently your either in a less crowded market or your targeting is unusually tight. Anyone telling you double digit reply rates are normal across the board is either exaggerating or working in a very specific niche that doesnt generalize.
"Should I be sending on weekends?"
Generally no. Tuesday through Thursday tends to outperform other days pretty consistently across most industries we see. Mondays people are catching up from the weekend and Fridays attention drops off toward the afternoon. Weekends are mostly dead unless your targeting founders who genuinely check email 7 days a week, which does happen in some cases but its the exception not the rule.
"My reply rate was fine last month and now its dropping for no reason I can identify. Whats going on?"
Before assuming your copy suddenly got worse, check deliverability first. Send test emails to seed accounts on gmail and outlook and see where they land. Sending reputation can shift without warning because of changes on the receiving end or because an account in your rotation started showing signs of degradation that you havent noticed yet. Copy rarely gets worse on its own, infrastructure quietly breaks more often than people realize.
"Is it worth combining cold email with LinkedIn outreach or is that overkill for most people?"
If you have the bandwidth its usually worth it because seeing your name across two channels builds a small amount of familiarity before the email even lands, which can meaningfully improve reply rates. That said if your just starting out and stretched thin, get email working properly first before adding another channel to manage. Doing one thing well beats doing two things poorly.
Keep the questions coming and Ill do another round of these when enough build up.
