OK this is as dumb as it gets, folks. A few weeks ago I saw a ton of outbid-clones posted – you can't have missed them unless you just came out of hibernation this morning. One of my various "-tisms" gave me the bright idea of replying with a snarky comment listing a dozen others I'd just seen, and somehow it just snowballed. I started updating it for every new one, and folks started at-naming me with ones I'd missed so obviously I couldn't just stop. (Unlike most of the posters, my profile's public if you want to see how big it got over time, just check my comments.)
Anyway, it started getting tedious and the comments were too long so one of my other "-tisms" gave me the bright idea to make a "slop app listing slop apps." So, with 12% Fable quota left on a Sunday before my reset, https://confab.sh was born.
I put literally zero thought into it other than "build me a simple timeline-radar and a basic admin interface to dump links into" and some of y'all have probably seen that version. It was pretty gross. I was so proud. But this is "build in public" and my Fable just reset so hey, why not give it a round 2?
So today, I give you this: Confabulation, the Second Edition (Second Coming sounded wrong somehow). It's the same thing. It's the same data. It's the same insanity. It's the same lack of caring – I barely put padding around the buttons. But I made the chart nicer…
Enjoy the slop. Suggest a new category if you want, but skip "Give me your URL and I'll tell you everything you're doing wrong" or "Funding finders" (I'm poking through those piles already).
