Most of my Sydney social media blasting has been really positive and I'm beyond happy for everyone that hit pbs/ had great runs/ raced beyond their means
But at 10/15km mark my knee was overloaded and i came down with a nasty knee injury that i succumbed to for the rest and was forced to run/jog or just walk the remaining kms of the race. The energy from the crowd was unreal and electric, and carried me through alot of those hard moments i had to weigh up giving in or just keep pushing to the finish line
Although i finished, it was a slow time, well below what i know i am capable of or that i can get if i can actually run. At times, the crowd yelling "not long now keep running" or yelling out to "just keep running" despite my body physically not being able to hit a running stride was so defeating. Feeling really disappointed with myself and my body, feels like all my hard work leading up to today has been worthless. Making it even harder to appreciate all the positive energy put out in the social media space and i feel like not alot of thought goes into the runners doing it harder and taking longer then the "aspired" 5 hours or less chip finishes or nearing a DNF or even the unlucky chaps that DNS. Am i alone in this?
