After completing the application process, coolinating schedules, and preparing my child for services, we arrived at Horizon Blue's ABA for my child's first scheduled session. When we got to the door we pressed a bell and were buzzed in. The facility was closed, dark, and had no one inside. Felt like the beginning of a horror movie. We ran out there so fast. When I dug up a phone number in my email, the BT told me that he had never had my child on his caseload and did not recognize my child's name. This was especially concerning because this was supposed to be my child's very first session. I was in contact with the company for months prior.
The company followed up by gaslighting me instead of admitting they forgot my appointment so I'm officially done with ABA companies. Are there any parents who do aba by themselves? I have a general idea what my child needs to work on but would love a program so I can see how to scaffold goals and build up or progress to goals in various domains. I don't want to shortchange my child but ABA in my area is not great.
