Facebook account locked after I approved a laptop login — now stuck on Meta authentication screen. Has anyone experienced this?

I’m honestly at a loss right now and hoping someone has experienced something similar.

Earlier today, I tried logging into my main Facebook account on my laptop through Chrome. Facebook sent a login approval/permission request to my phone, so I approved it because it was me trying to log in.

However, after approving the login, the laptop never completed the login. Chrome eventually showed “Facebook redirected you too many times.”

After that, things got weird.

My Facebook app on my iPhone suddenly got stuck on the Meta logo/blank authentication screen. I couldn’t get into my account anymore. I tried:

• Restarting my iPhone
• Using Wi-Fi
• Using mobile data
• Waiting for an hour
• Deleting and reinstalling Facebook
• Offloading and reinstalling the app
• Trying Safari
• Trying Chrome on my laptop

The Facebook app eventually went back to the normal login screen, but when I tried logging into my main account, I got an error saying:

“The operation couldn’t be completed. network error: TransientError domain: TigonLigerErrorDomain code: 3 detail: AsyncSocketException: connect timed out after 29998ms, type = Timed out.”

I then checked Instagram’s Accounts Center because my Instagram is still working. My Facebook profile is still there and it specifically says:

“(My facebook)— Facebook · Locked”

When I click the Facebook profile in Accounts Center, it shows my name, username, password, etc., but when I try to edit anything it says:

“Unable to edit. A security check for (my account) on Facebook is required to proceed.”

So apparently my account is locked and requires some kind of security check.

The weirdest part is that Facebook itself is working perfectly fine on my phone.

I actually created another Facebook account today because I was trying to figure out whether the app was broken. I was able to log into that new account through the exact same Facebook app on the exact same iPhone, and it worked normally.

So it seems like only my main account is affected, not my phone, app, Wi-Fi, or Facebook itself.

I also tried logging into my main account through Safari. At one point Safari said it couldn’t find my account, although my credentials were correct.

Then later I tried Chrome again, and Chrome actually found my account using an old phone number that I had previously used with Facebook. I tried logging in, but it just kept loading for almost an hour. When I finally refreshed the page, it said “This content is not available right now.”

After waiting several hours, I was eventually able to log into the Facebook app with my main account again, but it just got stuck on a white screen with the Meta logo, like it’s stuck during the authentication process.

I haven’t intentionally done anything suspicious or violated anything that I’m aware of. This all started immediately after I tried to log into my own account from my laptop and approved the login request on my phone.

Has anyone experienced this?

Especially if you’ve had:

• An account suddenly become “Locked”
• A security check that won’t complete
• Facebook stuck on the Meta logo after login
• “This content is not available right now”
• Chrome finding your account but being unable to complete the login
• Facebook working for another account on the same phone but not your main account

If you managed to recover your account, what eventually worked for you?

I’m planning to leave everything alone tonight and try again tomorrow because I’ve already tried way too many things today. 😭 I just really want my main Facebook account back.

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated!
