Pc network issue (help)

Hi everyone I believe I have a windows os/network-stack issue on my pc. I dont think it has to do with a hardware problem or router.

So I was downloading a 70gb game on steam, and partway through the download my PC's internet became extremely slow. I cancelled the download then tried running an ookla speed test which the page itself took a long time to load, and once it finally ran, the result was under 1mbps for both download and upload speed.

This issue has happened once before and was resolved through reinstalling the wifi driver but this time I had no luck.

System: Windows 11, WiFi adapter is a Realtek RZ616 (WiFi 6E, 160MHz). PowerShell showed: Signal 79%, link rate 1201 Mbps, Channel 149, 802.11ax

Troubleshooting I’ve already done:

**•** Reinstalled WiFi driver — no change **•** Winsock/IP stack reset (netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset) — no change **•** Flushed DNS, set static DNS (1.1.1.1) — no change **•** Checked Task Manager/Resource Monitor for bandwidth hogs while idle — nothing significant **•** Disabled WiFi adapter power saving — no change **•** Restarted router — no change **•** Checked netstat for excessive connections — found \~15 tied to dosvc (Delivery Optimization), disabled P2P update sharing — no change **•** Disabled Network Throttling Index — no change **•** Checked IP config (ipconfig /all) — completely normal (correct IP, gateway, DHCP, DNS) **•** Ping to router: normal (3–10ms, 0% loss) **•** Ping to google.com: 300–800ms latency, then 100% packet loss on a sustained ping test **•** MTU test: passed with full-size packets **•** Checked network adapter bindings — all standard Microsoft components, nothing unusual **•** No third-party antivirus/firewall (just Windows Defender/Firewall) **•** Had TunnelBear VPN installed previously, fully uninstalled — checked for leftover adapters/services, found none **•** Hosts file — clean, no hijacked entries **•** Microsoft Defender Offline scan — 0 threats found **•** Created a new local Windows user account — same issue persists on the new profile too **•** Clean boot (all third-party services/startup disabled) — no change
