I build small tools for my own PC under the name Songwright. Windows ads, the advertising ID, telemetry pings — I got tired of my own machine reporting back, so I built the off-switch I wanted:
– Two buttons. MASK saves your current settings first, then turns off the advertising ID and tailored ads, dials telemetry down, stops the two chattiest tracking services, blocks 48 known Microsoft telemetry / ad-tracker addresses, and points DNS at AdGuard. RESTORE puts every single thing back the way it was.
– The mask is settings, not a running program — it survives reboots with the app closed, until you press RESTORE.
– A live board in the window shows what your PC is connecting to, so you can watch the noise drop yourself.
– Honest limits: it's Windows settings, not a forcefield. A big Windows update can flip some switches back — the window shows the status of all 8 items so you can see it and re-MASK.
– No account, no data collection, nothing phones home
Free and open source (MIT). I run it on my own machine.

Built with my AI assistant, field-tested on my own PC first. Feedback welcome — especially if it breaks.
