Where domain hunters compare notes

Day 72 of building LiveSend. 128 users, 12 paid, and the feature I hyped in my last post was a wrong bet.

7 weeks ago I posted my Day 23 update here. I said an MCP server would reposition the product, and that the killer loop would be: viewer comments on a doc → my MCP pulls it into your LLM → you regenerate → push to the same URL.

I shipped it. Here's the honest scoreboard.

Numbers, pulled from the DB :

– 48 → 128 users

– 5 → 8 paying (12 have ever paid, 4 churned)

– 70 → 204 docs shared, 500 → 1,505 views tracked

The wrong bet : that comment loop I was so sure about got 9 comments. Ever. Across 204 documents. I designed it from my own head. People who send a client a report don't want a thread on it. They send it, then they want to know if it landed.

What people actually do with the MCP : 306 tool calls. get_analytics is 41% of them. get_comments is 3 calls. Nobody loops on feedback. They ask their LLM "did anyone open the doc I sent yesterday?" and get the answer without leaving the chat. Smaller claim than the one I made in June. Also the true one.

The number that scares me : 100 users published a doc. 21 ever came back on a different day. Retention is my problem, not acquisition.

The mistake I can prove : signup→paid went 20% (May) → 9% (June) → 7% (July). In late June I made view tracking free because 48% of docs never reached a single external viewer. It fixed the funnel and gave away the exact thing my pricing page was selling. Free tier changes are pricing changes.

Now the part I want other builders to sit with. 8 paying customers is ~$100 MRR. About $1,200 a year. Sounds like nothing.

To pull $1,200/year out of index funds at a 4% withdrawal rate, you need roughly $30,000 sitting in the market. A parking spot in my city yielding the same costs about $45,000 upfront, plus taxes and a notary.

I built the equivalent in 10 weeks with a domain name, a Vercel bill and evenings. And unlike the parking spot, it can 10x without me adding capital, and it taught me things about a market that no ETF ever will.

Your first $100 MRR isn't small. It's a $30k asset you manufactured out of nothing. Keep going.

Disclosure: I build this, livesend.io.
