Where domain hunters compare notes

Just let me rant about some ideas for my stories for a minute pls

Basically I plan for names to have alot more power for one. And in a few ways. Theres the actual given name, like Hades. And then there's what I'll call "Soul Engraved Names" which I'll get to later. Given names can attract a deity's (or really anything with enough power tbh) attention to what you're doing. Hades quite literally hears every single time someone uses his name to swear (That's a good bit of the reason Hades doesn't really like half-bloods). But ofc there's also the ability to block this, as long as your power is relative enough to that being you can block their perception while still using their name (Ofc most times people will just use substitutes for names. Like Stormbringer for Poseidon). So for example a minor god wouldn't be able to block Zeus' attention but Hera could.

And there are Minor, Major, and Olympian gods. Major is basically powerful gods that just don't have a seat on the council. Hecate falls under this. Minor gods are beings like Melinoe that aren't too powerful (by godly standards). Olympians are obvious.

The titles of "God", "Titan", "Giants", and "Protogenoi". are mostly just like declaring a bloodline. You can embody a domain as any of these. Its not an actual difference in power persay (Tho most Protogenoi are a good bit more powerful than any god) but a difference in generation or affiliation almost.

Soul Engraved Names are important, bc they're what connects a god to their domains. The specific wording of these names can affect alot. Use of words like: "Saint", "Lord", "Ruler", "King/Queen", "Bringer", "Personification", "Embodiment", and more can affect alot.

For example:

Zeus: Thunderbringer

Poseidon: Stormbringer

Hades: Lord of the Dead

Hera: The Keeper of Betrothal

Demeter: Queen of the Harvest

Hestia: Keeper of the Flame or Hopebringer

Athena: Master of War (She really likes this title and thus advertises it alot)

Ares: The Blood Soaked or The Wrathful

Hephaestus: Saint of Steel or Lord of Blacksmiths

Artemis: Moonlight Sovereign or The Huntress

Apollo: Bringer of Famine

Hermes: The Messenger or The Six Winged Messenger

Dionysus: The Party goer

A deity can have multiple titles for the same domain, just makes them more powerful. Deities don't gain these names simply from mortals (Thus Ares being called "Feasted by Woman" is nothing more than an fancy title in the scheme of things) but are something that happens when the soul itself builds the connection between a title and a domain.

Domains are semi sentient in a way, not in the way a human is, but in the way that a REALLY dumb dog would be. They can do basic things like favor a specific being but that's about it.

Most gods have over a dozen (Often the most powerful have dozens). And demigods don't often get these. Tho the most powerful had 2-3 before dying. A demigod needs to use these titles to build enough power to ascend. Heracles would've had exactly 12 before ascension but it was ruined. Heracles dying and than being forcibly revived and ascending in the way he did made him not only lost half of them but also half of himself.

Ascending by the gods gift actually severely weakens any being trying to ascend. Bc true ascension isn't something a god can just give out. Thus Zeus can only, seal away a gods divinity in most cases, with the only exceptions being those that were gifted it rather than just doing it.

Heracles dying and than the shitty fuck that was his ascension pretty much ripped half of his titles from his soul and also fucked his mind. Heracles was a dick when he was a mortal, but not NEARLY as bad as he is as a god, bc half his being (which mostly was made up of his good parts) was destroyed and replaced with half-assed divinity. Heracles was splitting mountains and skies as a demigod. Had he ascended normally he would've become capable of bare knuckle brawling beings like Atlas and Typhon. (Atlas is capable of lifting the sky and could throw mountains around like balls with pure strength. Typhon is on that level of physical strength as well)

Demigods in general when they reach the peak are insanely stronger. Odysseus was capable of relativistic speeds and could split boats (And islands) with a single swing of his sword.

Gods are even more insane in this. Chiron in the original says that Zeus' Master Bolt could make nukes look like firecrackers. The only reason why the Olympians vs Typhon didn't quite literally vaporize all of New York (And more) is bc gods have certain methods of avoiding too much collateral damage.

Hermes (The peak of the gods when it comes to speed) can make light look slow. Able to travel the globe in a literal blink. He has 6 wings by the way.
