Hi everyone,
I’m honestly getting pretty fed up with this. I’ve spent four evenings trying to get my Aqara U200 Lite into Home Assistant, tried different pairing methods, followed suggestions, checked logs and changed network settings, but I’m still stuck.
My main goal is simply to get the lock working in Home Assistant. I want to use it in my automations and security setup, and ideally control it locally. The fact that it works through the Aqara app is good, but it doesn’t solve my problem.
My setup
- Home Assistant Blue (HAOS), connected via Ethernet to my Infrastructure/default LAN.
- TP-Link Omada network with separate Infrastructure and IoT VLANs.
- Aqara M100 on the IoT VLAN, acting as a Thread Border Router.
- Aqara U200 Lite connected to the M100 through Matter/Thread.
- IPv6 enabled on both VLANs, with prefix delegation.
- mDNS configured for Matter and Thread discovery.
- Bidirectional LAN-to-LAN allow rules between Infrastructure and IoT.
Home Assistant discovers both the M100 and U200 Lite, but commissioning never completes. I’ve tried the original QR code, manual pairing codes and a new code generated through the Aqara app.
The Matter Server logs show errors such as Could not connect to device and warnings that an operational IPv6 address is unreachable.
I’ve checked routing, mDNS and firewall settings, but I can’t identify what’s preventing the connection. I’m beginning to suspect my IPv6 or inter-VLAN configuration, although I’m not sure.
What I’d appreciate help with
My existing Home Assistant setup is stable, and I really don’t want to move it or merge my VLANs just to get one lock working. Ideally, I’d like to get Matter working across the existing networks.
I’d be willing to run a controlled same-network test, but I haven’t managed to create a Wi-Fi network associated with my Infrastructure VLAN in Omada. I’d prefer to leave Home Assistant where it is and find a safe way to test the M100 on that network instead.
Has anyone successfully set up an Aqara U200 Lite with an M100 and Home Assistant across separate Omada VLANs? Any suggestions on what to check next, particularly regarding IPv6, firewall rules, Thread or Matter commissioning, would be greatly appreciated.
I’m based in Zeeland, the Netherlands, and at this point welcome any (remote or hands-on) help from someone familiar with this kind of setup.
I really thought this would be relatively straightforward. Four evenings later, I’m running out of ideas. 😅
Thanks in advance!
