I know this is nowhere near the professional homelabs usually posted here, but I wanted to share my little setup anyway.
The βrackβ is improvised, the hardware is modest, and cable management is definitely a work in progress. π
The main machine runs Proxmox, hosting several services and experiments:
– ARR stack
– Hermes Agent
– SearXNG
– n8n
– Other self-hosted services and experiments
I also use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Free Tier for one specific purpose: Pi-hole.
Pi-hole runs in OCI and I connect to it through Tailscale, so my devices can use it as their DNS resolver without exposing Pi-hole directly to the Internet.
So the setup is roughly:
Home
β Proxmox
β VMs / containers
β AI agents, automation, media and other services
OCI Free Tier
β Pi-hole
β Tailscale
β Remote DNS for my devices
Nothing here is particularly enterprise-grade.
And that's exactly the point.
I'm more interested in having a small, inexpensive infrastructure where I can experiment with virtualization, self-hosting, networking, automation and AI agents than building the biggest possible homelab.
It's a very small lab.
But it lets me turn ideas into working infrastructure without paying for cloud resources every time I want to test something.
Still evolving. Still learning.
And yes… the cable management is next. π
