Shamelessly took /u/Timely_Anteater_9330's setup from here and ran with it to make it fit my setup. I wasn't a huge fan of the stock monitors built in to glance so customized that around yfinance. I've set up some other monitors for individual docker containers to give me some added information and have made it so that most of the page is live updating without having a visible page refresh. Everything besides the time, calendar, rss feeds and reddit feed is custom and live updating. Docker containers will show me if they have an update available, with a blue arrow mark below its status indicator, and that will also be cleared when updated. I've also made it so that refreshes only happen when the page is active, a hidden tab will stop updating and the backend checker for yfinance will also stop polling for updates (currently polls every 5 minutes when the page is active, this isn't a trading station I just wanted a quick overview of how things are moving throughout the day). The car and humidor stats are being pulled from home assistant, also live updating. The docker widget also tries to identify if a container has a portal and creates a link to it, using the same hostname I'm using to access glance, so if I am connecting over Tailscale it still will launch the portal using the ts domain address or IP. A few containers need their own overrides for that bit.
ChatGPT definitely helped me get things were I wanted in terms of integrating yfinance and making the customized js that performs the updates, not going to pretend I could have coded this myself, and there have been several iterations of enhancement, identify issue, fix, test, fix again, but I'm pretty happy with the result here.
