This is a suggestion that I’m playing with in my mind on the bus/ train so please forgive me if it isn’t the absolute most thought out. But I’d like the option to pay for my lowest tier vm up front for all time.
I can’t be the only one who would at the least strongly consider it. But the idea would be to set a time to infinite and with that Tier Hive agrees to a good faith effort (I.e so long as they exist) to keep the vm running forever. Barring abuse obviously.
I figure $120 is roughly enough for 1 century at the current rates for the smallest vm to make it perpetual it needs the legal infrastructure so charge ~$400.
I wouldn’t be in the market this month and I’m sure it’d never have a lot of people. But I’d find something bizarrely appealing about the forever vm. With the legal infrastructure around it so that it would survive tier hive changing hands. Survive me dying and my family dying. A little digital time capsule set to survive as long as human institutions can be set to survive. Sat with an ipv6 address serving up my page long after anyone living has cared. Long after my dns has expired.
