This community welcomes knowledgeable payment professionals, but merchants deserve to know who is speaking, what they sell, and whether their identity has been checked. Verification is designed to reduce impersonation, hidden lead generation, fake testimonials, and unverifiable claims without excluding legitimate professionals.
Who must verify?
Verification is required before you:
- promote a paid payment-processing or merchant-services business;
- offer placement, gateway, underwriting, chargeback, fraud, compliance, consulting, or related services;
- solicit leads or ask members to DM you for service;
- publish a standalone provider offer; or
- link a business website as part of a sales pitch.
Merchants sharing personal experiences and professionals participating without promotion do not need verification, but all affiliations must still be disclosed.
Basic eligibility
Applicants should normally have:
- a Reddit account at least 30 days old and 50 combined karma;
- an established business website;
- a clearly stated role and service offering; and
- no pattern of spam, impersonation, deceptive claims, or unresolved community-rule violations.
Newer legitimate businesses may still apply. Moderators may request additional proof when the usual history is unavailable.
What to send
Send the moderators a private verification application containing:
- Reddit username
- Legal business name and public-facing brand name
- Company website
- Your name, title, and relationship to the business
- Countries or regions served
- Services and merchant categories supported
- Company-domain email address
- Any referral fees, commissions, ownership interests, or other relationships members should know about
- Any licensing or registration you publicly claim
Evidence standard: choose two
Provide two independent forms of evidence:
- Company-domain email check: demonstrate control of an email address matching the business website.
- Public professional profile: an official company team page or established LinkedIn profile matching your role.
- Official record: a government business registry, regulator, licensing database, or comparable authoritative listing.
- Redacted industry document: a current processor, ISO, acquirer, gateway, or relevant partner document showing the company relationship.
Redact account numbers, signatures, customer information, private pricing, IDs, bank details, and unrelated personal data. Never send passwords, card data, customer records, full identity documents, or unredacted financial statements. Do not post verification evidence publicly.
Review and outcome
Moderators aim to review complete applications within five business days, but timing is not guaranteed. We may ask follow-up questions or decline applications when evidence is incomplete, inconsistent, or unsafe to verify.
Approved applicants receive the moderator-assigned ✓ Verified Industry Professional flair.
The badge means moderators reviewed evidence connecting the Reddit account to the stated person, role, and business. It is not an endorsement, guarantee of service quality, confirmation of every license, or assurance that a provider is suitable for a particular merchant. Merchants must still perform their own due diligence.
Rules for verified professionals
- Display the verified flair whenever promoting services.
- Disclose your affiliation and financial interest in every relevant post or comment.
- Answer the merchant's question publicly before suggesting a DM.
- Never send unsolicited promotional DMs.
- Limit standalone promotional posts to one every 30 days and use Service Provider Post — Verified Only flair.
- No guaranteed approvals, guaranteed rates, “zero risk,” “no KYC,” or misleading claims.
- State important limits such as geography, restricted categories, reserves, contract terms, and eligibility when relevant.
- No fake testimonials, sockpuppet accounts, undisclosed affiliate links, or evasion advice.
Renewal and revocation
Verification should be renewed every 12 months and whenever the professional changes companies or materially changes roles. Flair may be removed for expired evidence, undisclosed conflicts, spam, impersonation, false claims, rule violations, or failure to answer reasonable moderator questions.
