The Alice in Wonderland Wallpaper Holds the Key to “Bon’s” True Identity — Was Bon’s Burgers Built Over an Older Restaurant?

While gathering information about "Bon," I stumbled across a detail that might explain both his identity and the physical history of Bon's Burgers.

As many of you know, the dimension we call "Wonderland" actually existed before Bon arrived. It originally had no name (researchers even referred to it as "the lobby" before Bon took over). The key detail here is that Bon specifically calls it "Wonderland" because the concept is familiar to him.

I searched TWF lore to see if any character was explicitly linked to or mentioned Alice in Wonderland, but found nothing direct. However, digging into the physical layout of the restaurant revealed some huge clues.

First, Bon's Burgers takes heavy inspiration from real-world 1960s/70s family diners (you can see the full venue layout on the wiki):

1. The Fiberglass Tiger Statue The tiger statue inside the building was a classic "found decor" item common in 1960s and 1970s family diners across Michigan and the Midwest (like Sambo's and Jolly Tiger). Chains routinely placed fiberglass tigers near their front entrances.

2. The Alice in Wonderland Wall Art & Architecture In the 1950s through the 1970s, many independent restaurants used Alice in Wonderland motifs because the story and original illustrations were in the public domain (no copyright fees).

Crucially, it isn't just wallpaper slapped onto a wall entire sections, doorways, and interior archways in the building were structurally designed around the Alice storybook theme. This wasn't just a quick BSI redecorating decision; the building itself was physically constructed around this theme.

The Core Theory:

This leaves us with two major possibilities regarding "Bon" and the venue:

  • Option A: BSI Moved Into / Occupied an Older 1950s/60s Venue If Bon's Burgers occupied a pre-existing storybook diner, "Bon's" human identity is directly tied to that original site. He calls the spirit realm "Wonderland" because he was connected to this older location, and his actions mirror the White Rabbit luring victims down his "rabbit hole" (the Backstage / Employees Only room).
  • Option B: It Was an Intentional BSI Choice If BSI chose this decor, it almost certainly wasn't Jack Walten's choice. Jack relied on his wife, Rosemary, for design work, and BSI already had its own custom branding. BSI wouldn't use generic public-domain storybook decor unless someone involved had a specific, personal connection to that theme or site.
