Installing Googlebooks in an Eero Pro/Secure Ad-blocked network

I spent a day with Gemini going in circles trying to fix the Pixel to Googlebook connection. Finally I switched to Gemini Pro and it quickly identified that the ad-block by Eero was blocking the handshake.

Add the following domains to your allowlist on the Eero before beginning the setup:

  • googleapis.com: Manages the nearby.googleapis.com Quick Share API and the cloud messaging tokens required to sync device groups.
  • gstatic.com: Handles the Android connectivity checks that validate local Wi-Fi Direct sockets.
  • gvt1.com and gvt2.com: Google's internal video routing and telemetry domains, which DNS ad-blockers frequently flag, breaking the WebRTC display stream.
  • googleusercontent.com: Required for loading account-level verification data during the device handshake.
