QSO One 4.1.0- The largest patch ever, and peace is made!

Troopers,

This is the biggest bug patch ever. Oh god, help me. Maybe consider a monthly subscription in app or on the website to support development…might help…

Would you like to know more?

I've been looking forward to writing this one for a while.

QSO One 4.1.0 is out, and it is the biggest bug hunt this outfit has ever run. Over the last few weeks I worked through more than 230 bug reports, one at a time. Some were quick fixes. Some took days of digging through logs to find out why a button stopped working on one particular phone, or why a headset refused to switch over on one particular PC. And for the first time since QSO One launched, the bug report queue is completely empty. Zero. I had to refresh the page a couple of times to believe it.

That happened because of you. Every one of those reports came from someone who took a minute to tell me something wasn't right, and a lot of you stuck with me through follow-up questions and test builds. Thank you. Every report got read, investigated and answered. If you sent one and got a reply saying the fix is coming in the next build, this is that build.

Here's some of what's in it:

– Automatic reconnect on all six networks. If your connection drops, QSO One tries right away, then up to 4 more times, 30 seconds apart, so it never hammers a node. If the other end truly refuses you, it stops and tells you why.

– Hanging up ends the call, and it stays ended.

– The end of your sentence no longer gets cut off when you let go of PTT.

– The transmit time-out is always on now: 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 2 minutes 50 seconds. That one came from a great conversation with David of HamVOIP, and it's the right call for everyone on the network.

– Both PTT mode works on external buttons like the B01.

– Mic levels are saved for each device you use, so your phone mic, your headset and your Bluetooth mic each keep their own settings.

– Your QSO log backs up to your account, and you can import ADIF files.

– UNIWA F400 owners: screen-off PTT. This one's been a long time coming. Please try it and tell me how it works.

– TIDRADIO Bluetooth mic owners: a new try at keeping your mic's PTT working during a call. Please report back on this one too.

– Windows follows your headset when it connects or disconnects.

– EchoLink picks proxies near you, and chat from the official EchoLink app finally shows up.

– M17 connects to XLX reflectors.

– DMR scanning holds a talkgroup until the talker stops, so you can actually answer them.

– Net Finder has one-time nets, a simpler Add a Net form, and shows your own local day.

– New badges, including Net Control for starting a net.

– Phones stay upright, tablets rotate, and small screens got a lot of attention.

The full list is in the app after you update, and it's a long one.

Now for the news I'm happiest to share.

Many of you know QSO One and the East Coast Reflector have had a rocky history. Recently I sat down with Vicki, Kevin and David (from HamVOIP) of the ECR team, and we had a real conversation. It turns out we all had some misconceptions about what was going on, on both sides. Once we actually talked it through, it didn't take long to find out we want the same thing: good conversations on the air and a healthy hobby. We've settled our differences, and I'm glad to say we're all friends now. It's been a long road, and I'm really happy to put it behind us.

So here's where things stand. QSO One users are welcome on ECR. You're free to talk about QSO One there too, the same way you'd talk about your radio setup or your antenna, just not as an advertisement. And please don't advertise other nets on ECR. That's their house, and those are their rules. Go check out some of their nets, jump in and ragchew. They're a great bunch of people, and I'd love to hear QSO One folks making friends over there.

One more thing. We have our own net now. The QSO One Net meets every Friday at 9pm Eastern on the Netoholics network, courtesy of Thomas KN4EWT, who owns the network, and Josh KE7WIL, our net controller and a Netoholics admin. A big thank you to both of them for giving us a home. Come check in, say hello, tell us what you're running, and bring your questions. I'll be there when I can.

When I started QSO One, it was because I couldn't reach a repeater during a storm and realized how much I missed hearing people on the air. Seeing this community grow into what it is now still gets me every time. Thanks for being part of it.

Service guarantees citizenship. Updating guarantees fewer bugs.

Changelog-

QSO One 4.1.0

Biggest bug patch in QSO One history: over 230 bug reports worked, and the bug report queue is empty for the first time ever.

Calls and connections

– FIXED: Hanging up ends the call on every network, and it stays ended.

– FIXED: Your TX lock and RX mute stay on through an automatic reconnect.

– FIXED: A dead link fully ends the call instead of looking connected.

– FIXED: Tapping a second network hangs up the first one cleanly.

– FIXED: A proper hangup is sent when Android closes the app mid-call.

PTT and transmit

– NEW: The transmit time-out is always on. Choose 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 2 minutes 50 seconds (the default).
