hi, as the title says, i cant seem to find out why my download speed is so unstable on a daily basis, while my upload speed is always 100% fine, before i contact my ISP again, i thought maybe someone here could help or suggest what might be causing this… here is everything i have found out and tried so far:
– my tarif is 50mbps download, 10mbps upload, its enough as i live alone and only my iphone and PC are connected, no TV etc, no background downloading on either devices, i am 100% sure
– upload is always 10mbps, but download is very often even below 10mbps, sometimes 20-30mbps, while my latency/ping in games stays fine (20/26ms), if everything is working fine, the download speed is really 50mbps, it stays like that for maybe an hour or two, sometime longer, then it drops – sometimes to 5mbps, other time to 30mbps, there isnt really a pattern, no matter if its weekend, morning, night, its so random, but basically every day, i have noticed that my PC is a bit more sensitive to this than my iphone (and yes, i always check the speed on both devices to check both wifi and cable status)
– i have coaxial cable and TP-LINK EX2200 router connected to Arris CM3200 modem, my PC is connected to the router, my iphone is using 2.4ghz wifi, ALL cables were replaced with brand new ones, distance between all devices is below 2 meters
– i have noticed that restarting my modem usually helps to restore the download speed to 50mbps, but not permanently, the cycle repeats
– memory usage on router is 50-60%, CPU usage below 5%, i am not using QoS, custom DNS, or anything like that, i left it as my ISP has configured it for me
– i ran a few SW for packet loss checking, it seems okay
– my router FW is up to date
