hey everyone,
quick follow up to my previous post about the android-to-pc usb routing tool.
after the last posts, i got quite a lot of comments and dms asking about linux support and whether a linux version was in the works.
following the v1.1.0 update a couple of days ago, i spent some time putting together an initial standalone linux cli build (v1.0.0) and just pushed it to github.
a few quick details:
– packaged as a standalone .run installer (no python dependencies or environment setup needed)
– routes raw packets directly over the physical usb bus to avoid hotspot metering
– includes an uninstaller (sudo tetherlink-uninstall) that flushes the virtual interfaces and restores your default routing and dns tables
a quick disclaimer on testing:
this is the first public build for linux. core routing was verified in an ubuntu cli environment, but network behavior can vary quite a bit across distros and network managers (systemd-resolved, networkmanager, etc.).
if you rely on mobile data on a linux rig and have a bit of time to try it out, any feedback, logs, or bug reports would be really helpful.
github: https://github.com/tetherlink-team/TetherLink/releases
quick setup:
- download TetherLink_Installer.run
- install: sudo bash TetherLink_Installer.run
- run: sudo tetherlink
thanks again for all the suggestions, dms, and feedback so far.

Edit: quick heads up for linux users — make sure `adb` is installed on your system (`sudo apt install adb` on debian/ubuntu) and usb debugging is authorized on your phone so tetherlink can detect the device properly.
