I had a use case of needing to reflect MDNS using my HomeAssistant Raspberry pi. My Cisco switch was not playing well with Scrypted advertisements and I didn't really want to run a whole other VM just for reflection.
I'm sharing in case this is useful for others, as I know mDNS reflection is a regular topic. It wouldn't be a good solution if you don't want your HA to have sub interfaces in your various VLANs
- Per-service filters, with defaults for HomeKit (including Thread), AirPlay, Matter, Chromecast and printers
- Never reflects HA's own services, so it won't clash with HA's own discovery
- Can exclude hosts by name or IP, useful for laptops that move between VLANs and keep renaming themselves
It has been tested on a Pi with HA OS 18.3 across three VLANs. You'll need VLAN sub-interfaces on the HA host and a trunk port on your switch.

Built with help from Claude. Feedback is welcome, especially from UniFi and pfSense users, since I've only tested it on Cisco gear.
