Hello I’ve been having an issue with my LG tv and my Xfinity connection since I bought the tv earlier this year.
Problem
If my tv has been turned off for around 8+ hours or so it will need to be reconnected to the network. The device doesn’t automatically reconnect to the network upon turning on. I’ll have to toggle networks or re enter the password several times to get the device to connect to the network. I have also had to restart the network a handful of times to get it reconnect. Typically toggling between networks and re entering the password works though.
Normal day scenario – the tv is located in my bedroom so me and my wife will fall asleep watching the tv. Tv won’t turn back on until let’s say 8 or 9pm. Tv is disconnected from network unable to connect. Mess around with it for 5 minutes or so and then we can watch tv again.
Information
– It’s an LG B5 tv
– I have the Xfinity provided XB8 gateway
– The gateway is located about 12ft from the device
– It’s the only device in my house that is having any type of issue on the network
– I have contacted Xfinity and LG separately for troubleshooting help
– LG has replaced the main board and the wifi card on my device to rule out any type of hardware failure.
Troubleshooting steps:
– Changed DNS 8.8.8.8
– Disabled IPv6
– Disabled Quick Start plus+
– Connect to 2.4Ghz
I have tested Ethernet and that seems to resolve the issue however I don’t want to move my networking equipment into my bedroom.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated I’m at a loss with this one and I work in IT so I’m typically pretty savvy when it comes to these kind of things. I would love to be able to collect some logs if possible.
I read on some forums that changing the wifi channel should help with this issue but the feature is blocked when I remote into the admin tool for my gateway.
