Why the new wizard?

We did some usability testing and realized that non-tech users can get easily overwhelmed with the different configuration options. What's the point of having one of the most robust customizable DNS platforms if some people don't feel confident about using it?

Our goal is to give users as much control as possible over their DNS, even more control than running their own server (if that's possible)! But, we want non-tech users to have full confidence in setting up and managing their DNS profiles, to leverage these advanced features to their advantage without stressing if they are making the right choices.

Ok, so what changed?

When creating a new DNS profile or managing an existing one, you have the option (not the obligation) to go through a step-by-step setup wizard. From the wizard, you have two options:

1. Let Dex, our in-dashboard AI assistant, do it for you. Dex will ask you some questions to understand your use cases and based on your answers will configure everything for you. You can then go through your profile and view all settings Dex configured and tweak anything you wish manually or by asking Dex.
2. Walk through the wizard manually. The setup wizard takes you through all important settings, explaining each step. At any time, you can easily click a button and call on Dex to help you.

Again, the wizard is an added feature. You can access and manage your DNS profiles manually without the wizard, like before, if you wish.

Anything else?

We enhanced the in-dashboard device setup guide. We give you step-by-step guidance on how to set up encrypted DNS on variety of devices, OSes, browsers, routers, and popular software. Dex can give you further guidance and answer any questions you have about your particular device. We also give you downloadable config files, copy/paste values, and DNS stamps so that you don't have to do any guesswork.
