Can anyone currently in Nairobi, Mombasa, or Diani share what the internet is actually like in practice?
I know it can vary a lot depending on the building/apartment, but I’d be interested in hearing personal experiences. Are you using fiber, 4G/LTE, Starlink, or some combination?
The main thing holding me back from heading out there is the internet. I really can’t afford to get there and find out it doesn’t work well enough for my job. I’m in sales and spend a lot of time on VOIP and Zoom calls with clients in the US, so I’m more concerned about latency, jitter, and call quality than raw download speed. I really only need something like 20 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up for calls and normal browsing.
Would especially love to hear from anyone who regularly does Zoom/Teams/VOIP calls with people in the US. Is it generally smooth enough, or is the lag noticeable/problematic?
