When exposing 80/443, do I need more than a reverse DNS?

Hiya folks, just a post to ask a couple questions as a homelab newcomer 🙂 I am a software engineer, so comfortable with docker and the software side, but not so much with stuff like security and sys admin type stuff.

My main question is around security, I have so far setup Ansible to create my Docker Compose service with Jellyfin and Nginx Reverse DNS, creating required directories etc. all on a Raspberry Pi I had lying around as a low cost way to get familiar with what I'm setting up before I invest further. Other than Reverse DNS, are there any other things you guys might recommend I do?

I wanted to make Jellyfin accessible outside the home so this is something I need to take seriously, I'd port forward 80/443 and route all traffic through Nginx.

There's plenty of other things I have had ideas to setup… NAS + Nextcloud, Grafana/Prometheus, disk redundancy with RAID or something similar, stuff that will improve resiliency. At some point I will need to buy proper hardware but I want to have something ready for it to run to make sure I don't buy it and never do anything with it… coming from a chronic too many hobbies type of person.

Thats all, thanks!
